I just want to scream. Ok, so on Sunday all my iPhone apps crashed back to the home screen. Even after resetting the power they still crashed over and over. So I did a restore and fixed it. Then yesterday I update to 2.0.1 and it not only killed off my apps again, but all my music and movies were gone. I tried all the logging in and out, reauthorizing the computer tricks and nothing worked. So I did another restore. Today I did a bunch of extensive testing of a bunch of my apps and was pleased to find hardly any problems. I was only crashed back to the home screen once and it worked again after that. There were zero crashes that caused a reboot like 2.0 had. Here is what I did before this latest problem happened:

I always set my iTunes to not sync once the iPhone is connected, but this gets reset after every restore. I forgot to uncheck it this time and when I plugged it in, it started to sync. Since the backups take forever and a day to complete, I canceled the sync. I just plugged it in to charge while I'm on my MBP. Then about 15 minutes later my girlfriend calls. While on speakerphone I went to open this cool Ambiance app that I installed today that plays ocean, rain, etc sounds so you can fall asleep and I wanted her to hear them. The app crashed back to the home screen. I thought that was odd. I had used several apps while talking to my mom earlier in the day because she was boring the crap out of me. So I don't think that's an issue. Well, after getting off the phone I try some more apps...to no avail. So I reboot, and like before, same problems. Also...all my iPod media is gone. To make things worse, this time my email stopped being pushed also (MobileMe...never had any problems since launch). It wasn't even pulling it. Only manually getting it downloaded the messages that were sent 4 hours earlier. So that bug started way before I even canceled the sync, but had worked fine until today.

So first it was apps, then it was apps and media, and now its apps, media and email are all dead. What in the world shall I do? Restore it again? How will I even know if this will fix the problem? I bet it won't. Am I doing something to cause this? Could canceling the sync corrupt all the files? I used the slider on my iPhone to cancel it. I thought that was allowable? It still shows that I am using up 14.64gb of files. Could iTunes have corrupt files? I have never jailbroken anything, original or 3g. I have a MBP Penryn running 10.5.4 with 2.0.1 firmware on iTunes 7.7.1. I don't remember having any problems like this before upgrading to iTunes 7.7.1. Could that be the problem? How would I reinstall iTunes without erasing all my media? Also...don't know if this will make a difference, but when I was playing Halo 3 with my roommate last Thursday, he saw my iPhone cord and plugged his 5th gen iPod into it to charge. iTunes came up and it said that his iPod was corrupt. Could that have screwed up my iTunes? I'm so confused right now. I guess I could call up Apple support but they have been swamped lately. I hung up after waiting 30 minutes the other day. I'm not going to be near an Apple Store for 10 more days. I guess unless someone knows what else I can do to fix this I will just have to spend 3-4 hours per day fixing my iPhone for the next 10 days. I am starting to HATE Apple. And I mean HATE!! They have caused me to waste so many hours. I was a fanboy just a few weeks ago too. I need to calm down before I raise my blood pressure any further...

Sorry this is so long but its quite a complex problem since a simple restore doesn't work. Thanks for any advice in advance. Time to go scour the web with Google one more time in search of hope...

I bet you that if you take it to an Apple Store you would have a good chance at getting it replaced.

Well what is weird is I haven't had any problems like this until the last 3 days. I do have some kinda weird battery issues though, so I will probably end up taking it back eventually.

Just wanted to add that it now takes my iPhone 3 minutes 19 seconds to reboot. Holy effing crap.
