So this is a replacement unit of my original 3G that had a faulty volume rocker.

Had it for 3 weeks and seemed to work fine.

Today I noticed that the body of the phone got really warm. I was outside in the cold and it actually kept my hands warm!

An hour later, I turned on to ipod mode to listen to music. I pressed the home key but it would'nt bring me back to the home screen. It would only show the shortcut of the ipod feature "close" or "ipod". "Close" would do nothing. I was stuck in ipod mode. The volume/ringer switch and music play back works okay. I wanted to do a hard reset or shut it down at that point but the power button would not respond. Few minutes later, even the home button becomes unresponsive.

Anyone know what wrong with the phone??

Obviously some sort of glitch. When I had a similar problem with the 2.0 firmware on a non-3G phone, I held the power/standby button down for about 30 seconds with it plugged in to a computer. That starts recovery mode, which will allow you to basically reinstall the firmware or use one of your backups.
