Good find, but isn't this a moot point.

I mean, who is really going to pay full price for an iPhone just to use on another carrier's network. I'd have to bet that the demand for jailbroken iPhones is not nearly as high as it was with the 1st Generation iPhone.

Also, why buy a 3G device when networks like TMobile don't even have a 3G network?

These are just my thoughts. I think that the price of the 1st generation iPhone will stay level and continue to sell on eBay and such.

EDIT: Disregard above points -- I totally blacked out and thought that we were talking about Unlocking, not Jailbreaking. Rock On for the Jailbreaking!

thats only for the firmware though. this proves the iphone 3g can be jailbroken. they are confirming it works with the new iphone. each iphone/ipod is a little different. notice how there is a different option for the 3g iphone

    you are wrong

that proves they've JAILBROKEN the 3G, they have not said explicitly that they have UNLOCKED it

the 3g and the 3g run different basebands

Those who bought the iPhone without a contract might be interested.

Another thread going nowhere. We could discuss the screenshot ;)

If I could unlock the iphone onto Vodafone Ireland's 3G network of around 6mb in the Dublin area I would. Thats some crazy speed :D

Being that the current 2.0 software is a bit wobbly, I wonder if the Dev Team is waiting to see if Apple will drop a stability update sooner than usual. I for one would prefer Apple give us a stable OS; fix my choppy scrolling, app crashes, and laggy typing before I jailbreak.

That's not the only type of crazy speed being past around in Dublin :D

But yeah, if we could get a pay as you go from UK or the North and then unlock them to run on Vodafone IRL it would be sweet alright, even down here in the bogland of Kerry :D

I'll believe it when I can actually do it. Right now all the DevTeam has given us is vaporware--videos claiming how easy it is to perform the JB and vague claims that they may eventually release a program or a protocol to the public.

Nothing but hype insofar as I can see.
