- AT&T announced yesterday that U.S. AT&T stores would be opening at 8am to launch Apple's latest phone.
- New Zealand is said to be kicking off their sales at 12:01am local time. This translates into 5am Pacific, 8am Eastern, and 1pm London time on July 10th.
- International rate plans have been released for the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Hong Kong.
- Photo of an iPhone 3G "in the wild" taken in Mexico City.

Apple has not yet announced the time they will be opening their retail stores on launch day, but they are holding a briefing with retail stores on July 6th about the process. MacRumors readers are continuing to organize local meetups for launch day.

I just called my local Apple Store (Aventura, FL 305-692-4448) and they said that they are opening at their regular time, and the iPhone is going on sale at 06:00 PM.
I'm not sure how much the person that answered the phone knows, or if he was making assumptions, but this is all there is.

It's going to suck if AT&T has it on sale before Apple.

Anyways - I'll have to wait 'till after 06:00 PM when I get out of work.

OS 2.0 will come out on the 8th

I believe the software update will come out a bit earlier than the date of first sale for the new phones. That is so many people will have the new iTunes updated before they take their new phone for its first sync. And, everyone who is on the ball will have updated their old phones, all ready to sell, give away or whatever when they get their newer model.

So I predict the OS 2 software will come out on the 8th.

They just didn't get the Memo yet - probably sell them the same time AT&T does.

I can believe that 'in the wild' 3G photo, as im told by a friend that O2 has the phones in the stockrooms right now. Im guessing that guy has taken one for a walk in Mexico.

im sure alot of apple excecs or testers have had the phone for a while now. the phone has to be tested on every network in real world scenario's.

i used to work for a major multi national carrier, and regularly had my hands on phones weeks if not months before they came out, thanks to the reps from the manufacturer, they wanted us to like the phone, and sell it over other phones so they would say, "hey, take it home for a couple of days":) motorolla were always great about that! the back of the phone was always printed with "test model not for sale" or "rep model not for public view"

dunno if o2 would have it in stock already....bit of a window for theft there....

I'm probably defying all logic here, but I plan on buying my iPhone from an AT&T store. Reason being is I'm getting a new line from my family's account for the iPhone and I don't want to confuse things over at the Apple Store. I'd rather have everything done in the AT&T store with people who deal with this sort of stuff all the time.

It pains me because I'd rather buy it from the Apple Store so I can buy some accessories to go along with it. I'm sure AT&T will have a selecton, but I'm sure it won't be the same.

much smaller lines...

it would make a lot of sense if you could purchase the phone through the at&t website, (log in, choose upgrade device, select new iPhone)

what are the chances of this? Could this work?

Yeah u'de think so. But I have no reason to not believe this person. I am after all a long time friend and ex-co worker with them. Benefits extend to a phone being held in the stockroom on 11th for me. Cant wait to get my mitts on my first iphone

Edit: Im not suprised motorola did everything in their power to make you 'like' and sell their phones....they're terrible. I couldn't justify selling one to a customer during my time at O2. Ugly ugly thing! Hah

So i find a flaw in their idea:

whats stopping me buying one on contract and then walking to another 02 store and buying one on pay as u go?

or: i could buy one as business customer (corporate) and then personally!

I can't help the fact i have to replace a blackberry and Microsoft phone yet keep them separate lol

Bloody marvelous! I'm thinking of getting the first tube to the shop on Notting Hill Gate and waiting out (just in case). McDonald's should be open for some breakfast if I've overcooked it and the only one there. I've got two hours before I need to be in work. Actually, scrap that - I'll be bringing in my MacBook Pro to while away the time and so I can sync at work in the early hours!

And to think I am going to get one before America wakes up ;)

Nothing, you can do just that. Hell, just go to CPW instead. Problem solved

re; motorolla, they are awful alright, i remember i had the v3x about 2 months before it was out.....i hated every second of it, but sold it to ppl cause the commish on selling a 3g phone was huge! im a bad bad person i know! :(

Isn't it 10th June in every time zone other than New Zealand?

Pretty much - and definitely in the countries which will see the iPhone 3G launch on the 11th.

We've yet to see any details about NZ pricing or plans for the iPhone, which might stay that way until release day too - while I am a potential purchaser or the iPhone, I'm not going to rock up to the store without first knowing exactly what my options are and having figured out what is best for me. So I'd say I might end up getting my iPhone a day or so after America gets theres!

Be useful to you is the key to buy an IT product.
Many years ago, trying to have all kinds of IT products left me with one sure conviction: in case after case, I did not buy many of them, or might buy a few of them, if I had just seen that most of the utilities of them to me are nothing. The reverse is equally true. The result of it that I bought them is only one thing that I knew how many kinds of utilities of these IT products to me were useless.
