With the iPhone 3G being available in many more countries, including Japan and Hong Kong, does anybody know whether there are countries that get the phones unlocked? (Unlocked meaning not hardware locked to a specific carrier)

Aravintht - are you sure your iPhone3G is unlocked?
Which SIM did you try in apart from the one that was used to activate the handset?

I really wish Apple would just unlock the thing if you are taking out a contract with them because o2 WILL STILL GET THEIR DUE MONTHLY FEE OF 30 POUNDS A MONTH.... IT WONT HARM THEM AT ALL BECAUSE NOBODY IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD PAY o2 HIGH 'IPHONE CONTRACT RATES' AND NOT USE THE MINUTES.
