iphone 3g luddite has ipod problem

how do i get my ipod to stop automatically skipping to the next track after 5 seconds as soon as i put my iphone in my pocket. its driving me mad. when i hold it in my hand it works fine. any tips would be greatly received by this 38year old idiot

However, in either case, it might be "shake to shuffle". Check under Settings > Music.

Yeah, turn off shake to shuffle.
