Last night my iPhone started switching itself to vibrate/sound by itself.

This morning i decided to restore the phone. The switching stopped but now if I shut the phone off and turn it back on, i get the 3G symbol but where the bars are it says searching...

I can still make calls and they go thru...

This will be my 2nd 3G

There's obviously something wrong with the phone. Why wouldn't you bring it back?

it just started happening. I wonder if its hardware related or if it is software.

is there any diags one can run on it

How close are you to an apple store?

If it's a basic software thing a genius can diagnose really quickly, but if it's hardware, they may just replace it for you! You can hope!

i just made an appointment.

while sitting at my desk with full bars and 3G my friend just called me and asked why i didn't return her call yet. My phone never rang and while on the phone with her, i got a message saying voicemail from her.

this isn't the first time i had that problem
