iPhone 3G Restore hangs...

about 99% in itunes and on iphone screen about 75%. it just stays there for minutes (like 20 mins) i quit itunes and try again and nothing. i tried normal restore and DFU still nothing. also tried using the other usb port.

anyone help?

Boo, I am also now stuck on screen on iPhone with empty bar beneath. Totally unresponsive, cannot enter DFU, nothing. Bleurgh.

Glad I've got my iPhone 4 reserved for Thursday...

But it got there. It took ~2.5 hours.

(i've got a LOT of stuff on that 'ole 16GB phone too, so YMMV)

Mine was stuck overnight (8hrs)

Have now managed to get it restarted in DFU mode. Fingers crossed.

I had to do a restore on my wife's because the update backup (which I had already done) was going to take an hour. Restored in 10 min and am syncing now.

If you own a 3G and are getting an iPhone 4, don't bother. iOS 4.0 almost bricked my phone. And now it is installing EVERY SINGLE APP I've ever bought, regardless of whether it was on my phone or not.
