Ok I don't really know if this is a problem or not. I have an iPhone 3G, and I've noticed that in the past couple days the speakers were quieter - or it could be my imagination, I'm really not sure. It seemed like my friends 3G was able to play songs lounder than mine was - but that could be just the audio file, not necessarily the phone. I started to investigate, and it looks like only one speaker is actually making sound. If I hold my finger over the left speaker, the sound is clearly muffled - so I assume that speaker is working, but when I hold my finger over the right speaker, nothing happens - there is no difference in audio volume. Is this normal? Should I have it replaced? Thoughts?

Yes, definitely. Take that **** in and have it replaced. Apple really needs to pay more attention when distributing this stuff. This is a very common problem.

Good luck!!

Don't feel bad. You're one of many, quite possibly hundreds, who have been grilled for asking this without searching.

Lesson learned. And now you have your answer as well. ;)

Yah that's true. Oh well, I'm just glad that A) no swift kicks to the skull have ensued, and B) my phone isn't FUBRd. Sorry for wasting everyone's time though lol. My bad.

the right 'speaker' is actually a microphone...how do you think you talk into the iPhone? from the head speaker part?

I just assumed the iPhone produced some sort of Jesus-halo around it, and that your voice would be transmitted by said Jesus-halo into the atmosphere where it would be redirected by large mirrors mounted on old Russian satellites and that that redirected stream of light-energy would then be intercepted by a normal radio tower and sent to the person you were calling. I guess I really should read the manual.

I don't know what's funnier about these post; the OPs, the ensuing pile on, or the people that earnestly post the answer after the question has been answered 10x. It's like they don't read anything after the OP. Maybe they're on dialup.
