iPhone 3G stuck at the apple logo.

My friend gave me his iPhone and i wanted to erase all the stuff my friend had. So i went to the settings and put erase all the data. So it told me to wait an hour i did and then i found out my iPhone was stuck at the logo for about an hour. I read online that you can restore it by putting it to DFU mode so i did and it restored but after the iPhone restarted the apple logo came up again. What do i do i really want to use this iPhone.

Yes i did. This sucks i dont wanna pay 200 dollars to repair this. Theres no programs to fix this problem? I tried everything.
