Hi Guys!

I'm new to this iPhone thing... (used to have blackberry)

So I bought an old and really cheap iPhone 3g... but when I turn it on I can only make emergency calls, and when I connect it to iTunes I get a message saying that I need the original sim card or something like that.

I've been trying for hours to unlock it with lot's of software from the web, with no success, which is very frustrating...

Can anyone help me out so I can start using this iPhone with my sim card?

THX!

Download TinyUmbrella to see what firmware the iPhone is on. Then from there you can determine what you need to jailbreak/unlock.

Follow this guide to jailbreak your iPhone. The iPhone has the iPad baseband installed (needed to unlock) so skip that part.

After you jailbreak install ultrasn0w (from Cydia) to unlock. Redsn0w will activate the iPhone after it's finished jailbreaking.
