iphone 3g voicemail problem?

I just tried to check to see if my voicemail was hooked up and when I hit the voicemail button it was calling it. I use to have the other iphone and would get visual voice mail that you can see. There may be a quick fix to this. Thats why I came here cause you guys are the best....

you have to set it up for the new phone, you have to enter a passcode thing for your voicemail box, thats what i had to do before i got visual voicemail on mine
