and also as engadget and others have pointed out, these restrictions seem to be only on the iphone ( the Nokia 6650 which is also a 3g at&t phone can run slingplayer just fine )

This isn't just a complaint about the AT&T 3G network, its a worldwide concern

Why should people in the UK have to have a crippled iPhone 3G because of AT&T here in the US ?
Yes, you could have a point there. I seem to remember reading about someone who had no reception problems with his Samsung (I think!) - only his wife's iPhone. Perhaps it's a sensitivity problem with the IPhone, which makes it Apple's problem!

In the UK, like all networks, O2 does have it's bad spots but nothing as bad as AT&T seems to have. There again, the US is a bigger country! :)

We have to wait

Ive always felt AT&T's network was weak. In my area there is still no 3G and call quality is horrible. Sometimes it's works and sometimes it won't.
If AT&T did not have the iPhone where would the network be? How would they be doing?
They will not begin to do anything till their exclusive has an end date. Only then will they attempt to improve on all the things already discussed. They will not want to loose business based on all the issues/complaints they have had since the iPhones first release.

To bad we have to wait for that period to come still.

dolfan0516dolfan0516 : I have ATT and use the mobile SlingPlayer on my Blackberry Bold, so this decision is from a combination of ATT, Apple, and Sling Media.

SevetsSevets: Wow, thanks AT&T + Apple... Mostly AT&T though. Sling had no choice but to remove 3g service from their app otherwise it would have mysteriously rejected by the behind the curtains mysteriousness of the App Store approval process. Not they they don't make good things, they just really need to loosen up on the restrictions.

Streaming is restricted to Wi-Fi only at Apple's request

I have no problem at all with the 3G. The videos on YouTube are great, talking on the phone is great and I am VERY happy with the service so far.

EDIT: no matter who carries the iPhone, people will be complaining about the service.
