Check the compatibility section on the page you linked. The 3GS and 4 have different backgrounds. The 3G does not.

Guess I'll be waiting for the 4.0 jailbreak, lame. On the bright side my 4.0 non jailbroken phone is quite a bit zippier now.

Well, how else will Apple get you to upgrade? ;)
In all seriousness, that's a load of ****. Just jailbreak your 3G and use Winterboard to get the Home Screen wallpaper if you need it.

    Jailbreak...cool

Jailbreaking is awesome, but the last time I did it, my iPhone started acting up! if jailbreakers can make your springboard background change why in the heck can't :apple:?? this is so annoying!! can't they just make their customers happy?!?! Not everyone has $500 in hand, to go and buy the iPhone 4! Their products are great, but they should have made this package to where a picture could have been set for us 3G people!! Listen to the voice of the people! They have spoken!!

this is what my phone used to look like when it was jailbroken! I miss it, but am afraid to jb it again, cause I don't want it to break.

^ Agreed. You can never brick an iDevice from jailbreaking, a simple Restore will fix 99.9% of all jailbreak-related snafus :)
