Hello MacRumors, in our house we had a iPhone 3G just laying around so the other day I was kinda bored and decided to boot it up and play around some. But suddenly a wild iTunes logo appeared(Oh Noes!), and apparently I had to sync it with iTunes. Okay, I thought and plugged the iPhone in to my mothers MacBook 5.1 (I don't trust my iMac G5 anymore).

Then iTunes automatically fired up itself but when I thought I would setup the iPhone, iTunes told me to insert sim. Problem is, sim slot is broken on this iPhone and my mom does have an 4S now, and the iPhone 3G is contract-less so I got kinda disappointed and decided to ask the people at MacRumors about this.

So if you have any advice, please tell! :)

If you want to use it even as an ipod, it requires a sim for activation with itunes. I'm not sure there is any way to get around that.
