    Please can anybody help.

I did have an iPhone 3GS with 3.1.3 jailbroken software on until the iPhone 4.0 beta came out and I was very stupid and jumped straight in and installed the beta. I now know this was a HUGE mistake!

I did A LOT of googling and eventually got my iPhone back to a 3.1.2 JB software, but I am now finding that some of my apps require 3.1.3 software to work.

I do have hashes for both 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 stored on cydia. My question is how do I update to my old custom firmware 3.1.3. I tried simply updating to the CFW using iTunes but I got an error half way through so went back to the 3.1.2 CFW.

Can anybody tell me how I can go about updating to 3.1.3 CFW?

I will be very grateful for any help

Put your phone in restore mode and update to a custom 3.1.3 ipsw made with pwnage.
All that while your on 3.1.2 and jb without a tethered jb.

For a 3GS you need to have your SHSHs for 3.1.2 firmware saved locally or thru cydia.
    No other way.
On 2G and 3G models you just downgrade with no probs thru itunes.

Will try that after work today.

How is putting it in restore mode going to make a difference to simply clicking the update button in itunes?

so from that i gather you are on 3.1.2 but you want some 3.1.3 apps to work again? There is an app in cydia that tricks your phone and itunes to think your phone is 3.1.3 when it is actually 3.1.2, that should allow those apps to run since 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 are esecially the same.

You actually should be able to do either, provided that your phone currently has an untethered jailbreak. DFU mode will not work for installing custom firmware.
