First off, I'm definitely not new to JB/unlocking (I've had my 2G on T-Mobile for almost 3 years!).

So I've been reading forums for hours and I can't get anything to work. I have an iPhone 3GS 3.1.3 with the new bootrom. Can I JB/unlock it to use iOS4? If not, I think I can still use Spirit to JB and ultrasn0w to unlock (while remaining of 3.1.3), right? Thanks. 🙂

New botrom 3GS models cannot update to custom 4.0 even if u had 3.1.2 shshs.

Actually there is a method to do it from 3.1.2 firmware and lots of mods to firmware.

I didn't know about that.
Even on new bootrom 3GS?
Is that the tethered 4.0 jb that I heard about lately?

News to me too!

Ah well, the new spirit should be out very soon anyway! Hopefully there isn't a baseband update in 4.0.1

For the moment, you can JB 3.1.3 with Spirit only if you have iTunes 9.1. If you've upgraded to 9.2, find another computer that still have 9.1. Or do what I did and install 9.1 (search the net) on a fresh computer.

Then you can use ultrasn0w to unlock. I just did this two weeks ago and everything works fine.
