iphone 3gs 4.2.1 jb question

i have searched the forum for answers to this question and looked through the sticky on new to iphone.

is it possible to JB this iphone 3gs 4.2.1 modem firmware 05.15.04. if so what is the best way to do it for an un-tethered JB.

The only way at this point to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS 4.2.1 untethered is if you:

1. Have a Mac
2. Have SHSH blobs saved for 4.2b1 which you mostly don't.
3. Are a developer with a legitimate copy of the 4.2b1 ipsw which you most likely aren't.

But you can jailbreak tethered using the latest redsn0w.
 
I already told you. Use the latest redsn0w and download iPhone 3GS 4.2.1 firmware from felixbruns. The instructions in redsn0w are self-explanatory.

Do you have to have BOTH #2 and #3 to do the untethered JB?
