Bought a iphone 3gs off a friend, its real and everything (Works through itunes) but the back doesn't show the amount of memory it has. Is anyone else's 3gs like this or anyone have any clue why its like this? Is it possible it was scratched off?

That looks like a 3rd party housing. The housing must have been replaced. Does your iPhone "3GS" have the built in video recorder and the compass? How many gigs is it?

Yep, it has video and the compass and its 8gb. I wanted to bring it to Apple for replacement, would they void my warranty if they saw the back?

Actually, like the iPhone 4 16GB and 32GB models, the 8GB 3GS has no storage size printed on the back.

Odd. Mine says 32GB. Don't worry about it though, because it doesn't seem unlikely that Apple wouldn't put it either like the iPhone 4. That means that your phone was purchase sometime after June 2010 :)

That means your friend bought the 3GS when the iPhone 4 came out. When they turned the 3Gs into the 8GB model they got rid of the storage identifier on the housing as the 4 is like. If anything yours is real new.

the latest manufacture of the 3GS (8GB version) doesn't have the storage markings on it AFAIK...
