iPhone 3GS Battery Percentage meter Wont Turn Off

I'm having trouble getting my iPhone 3GS battery meter to turn off. I've tried switching the slider on/off then restarting with no luck running 3.1.3 fresh from the factory (no jailbreak). Any ideas?

Hold Home and Sleep/Wake button at the same time and reset it.
If that doesn't help, you may have to Restore...

Same here. After update to iOS 5 the percentage just won't go away no matter what on my 3Gs.
