Isn't the iPhone 4's CPU the same as the iPad's CPU? If so isn't it 20-30% faster than the 3GS? Do you believe a 20-30% is enough of an "A+ update?"

Will the only differences come down to hardware once 4.0 is released for the 3GS? eg. front facing camera, more MP with flash on rear camera, etc.

You're not happy with:
800mhz(I bet it will be underclocked to this) processor
front facing camera
better back camera
flash
Cool new design
Other unknown features
4.0 update
Higher-res screen.
Better battery life
I'm curious as to what exactly you want.

That's not what I meant at all. I'm wondering if the new iPhone 4 will "feel" any faster than a 3GS or if it will be the same with new hardware features like you described. :)

Oh it will feel a lot faster! Out of curiosity have you used an iPad? I love the speed of mine! Iphone 3g=400mhz 3GS-=600mhz new iPhone=750-1000mHz. It feel be a great difference!

Considering nobody knows EXACTLY what hardware is in the 4G and anything out right now as far as info is only SPECULATION - your guess, is as good as anyone elses.

Also remember that Apple doesn't really release any hardware info during the conference. They didn't last year and everyone was guessing for a while. Not sure if they will do it again this year or not.

So asking if the new phone is faster than the old one - one would ASSUME so, however again - until it comes out, it's all guesses.

If your car had a 20-30% hp boost I bet you would think that was pretty significant jump so why not in phone performance?

The faster processor is the only thing that might make me want to upgrade from my 3GS, I'm not bothered about any of the other features, I just remember how much faster my 3GS was compared to my 3G (I know that it also had double the RAM aswell) but it was still tonnes faster

It will feel about 20% faster and, more importantly, the battery will last about 25% longer, all while adding new functionality (like much improved camera and flash, front-facing camera, noise-cancelling mic, etc.)

I haven't played with an iPad yet and I have only checked out a 3GS once. Anything is better than my slow 3G! I'm mostly excited for the better camera with flash! I won't have to carry around my digital camera as often.

It'd be impossible to say what features of OS 4.0 will be exclusive to the new iPhone. Just like the compass app in the 3gs, it'd be impossible to tell since we're still uncertain what hardware will be in the new iPhone. The only way to tell would be looking through the 4.0 software to see if there are any identifiers in the code. They found traces of iChat code in the 4.0 software, its possible they could find even more. It's also possible that Apple is holding back a few secrets.

Either way, with the 4.0 OS and the details we already know about the new iPhone.....this is definitely an A+ update. Makes me glad I skipped the 3GS.

After playing with an iPad at the Apple Store, my 3G felt like it was made in 2000. I can't wait for an iPhone with the 1GHz A4. The 3GS wan't a big enough improvement over the 3G for me to sell my month old 3G at the time, but seeing the leaks, this is a killer improvement. I'm guessing once you play with a new iPhone, you will change your mind.

It won't be 1gHz. Apple would not make it as fast the iPad. I predict 800mHz.

I have the 3rd Gen ipod touch and iPhone 3GS....and the touch feels a lot faster...what does run?? I played with the iPad in the store and felt fast too

I hope the new iPhone is as fast

It's always keeping connections with towers, looking for texts and phone calls. This eats some power. I would almost bet that the iPhone will be underclocked to ≤800mHz

Where did you hear it will have better battery life? Wherever, it is just speculation, since the prototype doesn’t tell you that.
