iPhone 3Gs - Italy and Belgium - unlocked?

I am beginning to think that I should have just asked one of my colleagues in Italy to buy me a 3GS there and ship it back to Belgium on their employee discount (working for a courier company has its perks). Unfortunately, I just didn't expect things to be so bad in Belgium. I guess I should have known better...

I think you have done the sensible thing. I mean why would you buy a phone from another country, when you have the same exact phone (unlocked) in your country and cheaper! See...all of us here have this urgency to get this gadget, but at the end of the day it is a phone, so if you don't have a reason to wanting the phone as soon as possible (in my case; i will be traveling for a long period around the end of August) then i think a delay is a good trade for the peace of mind that you know if anything happens to your iphone, you can just walk across the street to repair it, rather than the hassle of shipping it to another country, which has yet to be confirmed that it is possible.

I am not sure if you mentioned that, did you try to pay a deposit to one of the resellers to hold a phone for you?

Last month the Hong Kong Airport electronics Duty Free shop had the 3Gs unlocked in stock. They seem to be an Apple dealer (any one knows?) as they have most of the product portfolio (Macs, iPhones, iPods, accessories).

I wonder if they have received the 3GS.

Depend what city. Example in south we found many shops who have 20+ in stock and even 32GB is available

I've not seen any confirmations of stock in Brussels so it seems unlikely that there will be any today. However, you might be lucky and new stock arrives today. In that case you'll have to hope that you find a Mobistar Centre that doesn't have staff that won't sell you an iPhone because you aren't taking out a 2-year contract with them. Best of luck.

I was rather hoping to have the iPhone for my trip back to the UK this week since we'll be travelling to places (such as Edinburgh) that I've never been to before and therefore the Maps application would be damned useful. Mind you, one of the primary reasons I want an iPhone 3GS is for the TomTom application and hardware so given that this has not been released yet I suppose I can wait longer.

I'm on the Easy-M waiting list but what that really means in real life I have no idea. I'll certainly be annoyed if stock hasn't been received by the time we come back to Belgium at the end of the month.

depends what you are looking for i found 2 16 GB black in charleoi on friday when ringing around unfortunately im looking for a 32gb black
im also on 2 waiting lists and maybe getting a call this week from a mobistar outlet that are expecting delivery

I just did. Nothing in stock yet. waiting on big delivery. they will not get as much 32GB iphone as wanted because supplier is unable to get hold of the stock. First come first serve. Should get stock in this week and early next week

Still the same story as always well lets hope they "deliver" on their promise as this week its 2 weeks since I was told I would get my order.

If not I got my Hong Kong order to fall back on.

So you orderd an unlocked iphone in the UK, to be shipped to India. and you did this on the 25th.

I ordrd mine on 28th... so i should get mine in the next few days.
