My 3gs was locked to O2 but was replaced at the Apple Store yesterday under warranty does this mean now i have an unlocked one? I don't have another sim to try in it at the moment.

Apple is supposed to lock the replacement to the same network that the phone you brought in was locked to.

O2 will unlock an iPhone 3GS for free, so it's not really a big deal.
