I'm more the type of person that if I'm going to be stuck in a contract, I'm not going to be stuck with a low end piece of equipment. I'll pay more up front and get something worthwhile. This way at the end of the contract my equipment is due for an upgrade as well...instead of already needing an upgrade at the beginning of a contract.

Now then, if you can get them for this price without a contract...thats a steal and I want 20 of them.

Yeah those prices are obviously with a 2 year contract.

LOL, yeah I agree--I'm thinking of people like my mom that wouldn't DREAM of spending $199 on a phone but would get into the "game" by spending 19.99 up front and be happy paying a little extra for the data plan. Then and only then might she see the worth in upgrading later on--then again. She'd probably be the one to buy an iPhone 4 when her contract was up in TWO years, haha.

This would be perfect for the iPhone n00b's that just want an iPhone.

The problem is that there is just too much difference between iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS. Also, iPhone 3GS will be like iPhone 3G with next major OS update iOS 5. U see what apple is doing with iPhone 3G?

    No Airplay..
    Sluggish performance with iOS 4

Best way right now is to buy iPhone 4.

I had a couple co-workers that bought refurb'd 3G's and they were in acceptable condition. They had some minor scuffs/scratches (mostly on the back) as well as a couple dings in the bezel although not too bad. I see AT&T's definition of refurb is primarily with the functionality of the device, i.e. the software, so the condition might be hit or miss. Although I sincerely doubt that they would sell a beat up 3GS to anyone and actually expect them to keep it. I'd say you'd be safe in getting a refurb so long as your expectations are pretty low.

yeah i suppose for some people as long it functions properly, $19.99 is a great deal.

Newb here, do you think Apple will offer refurb Iphone 4s at $99 like they did last year, just for Christmas?

Especially if these iPhone 4-to-Verizon rumors are true (and I don't believe one second they are).

The wife wants one now, so I have to get two lol

I'm guessing they will only discount the 4's just before the 5's are to come out.

Possibly although doubtful. I think current iPhone 4 16GB refurb's are $150? So, $50, not a huge difference but since it's the current gen model, doubt that they would drop it unless the VZ rumors are true. Then again, with all these posts I see of people complaining about X, Y & Z about their IP4's, who knows, they might have a huge stock pile of refurbs lying around just waiting to get dumped.
