Does anyone know what Apple charges for an iPhone 3GS to be replaced by Apple? it is the 8GB Black version.

This is most likely true... BUT there's a big "catch." My wife's 3GS had to be replaced under warranty last December. Since Apple (apparently) no longer had stock of the 3GS, hers was replaced with an iPhone 4. So in other words, you may pay $149 to get your busted 3GS replaced with a new (well, probably refurb) 8GB iPhone 4. If you need a new iPhone, that's a pretty good deal IMHO. Most USED 4's (mine included) sell in the $175-200 range.

Might be a good chance in the OP getting an iPhone 4.
