I just phoned o2 & spoke to a really nice helpful guy & he went to speak to his manager. I have to phone 8am on the 19th & pay what i should have paid to end my contract BUT they will take it as something like an upgrade fee so i dont need to go thro all that hassle & they will just upgrade me!!
I asked him to note this info on my account so that i wont be told different when i phone. I also asked him to put his managers name there as a ref.

Pretty sure this has been asked before but I can't find a ref to it at the moment... is visual voicemail all you lose on Simplicity? Cos I've only had one voicemail since I bought the first iPhone on release night. And that was one I got a mate to leave as a test! :-s
Presume you'd lose the cloud access too?
I've only had a couple of voicemails so it's no great loss to me.
You can get a wi-fi bolt on for cloud access if you need it.

To be honest, the Cloud seems more trouble than it's worth to me too. I usually find that it's okay if I'm on the web but if I'm using the Mail app or trying to check train times or my eBay via apps, the cloud doesn't seem to work so I end up turning it off.
Well, seems like Simplicity might be the way forward!! 🙂
and when will you receive the new iphone? do you still keep your same number etc..?

Yeah this way it will just add on to my current contract & saves me ending one to start another & pac ing my number. Less hassle this way IF all goes to plan
So I preordered from mobiles.co.uk yesterday, and I have received a message that they are temporaroly out of stock of the 3gs.
Does anyone know if this is because, obviously, the phone is not released yet, or whether it's that their allocation of stock has already been pre-ordered and I'll have to look elsewhere?

Wouldnt you get unlimited WiFi and Web if you buy PAYG, even if you get a Simplicity contract??
So in theory buying a PAYG, and then getting the cheapest Simplicity contract (the £10 one), you should get unlimited Wi-Fi (Cloud) and web for 12 months plus 150min, 300 text per month...

I did think this too... however, after consideration, I think the Pay and Go route is the better option. I'll get £200 for my old phone from a mobile recycler and I think after that it works our about £70 more than ending my contract early.
However, with the PAYG option, I'm not tied into another contract so this time next year I should save money if I wanted to upgrade to the next iphone.

Think I pay 9.99 per month and that covers my phone, iPod and my Macbook.
I can't see that working. The PAYG package will be linked to one SIM card and the Simplicity to another SIM card.

It's a bit awkward at work. I can flip this up every so often to have a look, but sitting next to my manager trying to order an iphone on the works telephone wouldn't go down too well.

that doesnt sound like a good manager. Anyway I would order at carephone and get it delivered (allocated) at your nearest store and then you can pick it up.

I have just taken out Personal Possessions insurance as part of my existing contents insurance, which will cover me when I get the iPhone 3GS (plus other items - but who cares about them).
It covers, accidental loss, damage and theft for an additional £3.20 per month. I'm waiting for them to send me the policy information, but I thought that this was a good deal.

The O2 Price for a 32GB iPhone on PAYG is £538.30 that is $882USD.
That seems a lot.
Does anyone know if the international prices are comparable.

+£245 buyout from current current
- £200 from fonebank.com for 16gb 3G
= £583
hardly seems worth it does it? or am i missing something?
what is the PAYG cost per month?
looking at the site is a bit confusing.. i pay £10 and get 500 mins + £10 for 300 texts, then when they run out, you top up again... and you get free web bolt on for 12 months

You don't need to buy out of your current contract though if you buy the PAYG version - just pop in your sim card. Meaning you can sell your current 3G, use up the final months of the current 18 month contract and be out of contract in time for the *next* iPhone - in the meantime (from December) you can be on the £20 simplicity tariff which includes tonnes of minutes and unlimited browsing...
£538 (32gb PAYG) - £200 (from selling current 3G) = £338 (plus saving at least £100 by moving onto simplicity tariff in December)

You've added on an additional £245 for the current contract? I'm carrying the contract on.
I'll pay £440 for the 16GB 3GS and get £200 off for the old phone so it'll cost me £240 which is less than I paid for my first iPhone.
I'll carry on with the contract for 6 months and then probably switch to Simplicity if that's still an option.

This is what I'm doing - plus you'll recoup a decent amount of money when you go to sell the 3GS - that's the good thing about Apple products!

You can choose what you need. For example third one down you can configuire to 600 mins, 1200 texts and unlimited web bolt on for £20 a month which is what i'll be doing and then buy a 16gb 3GS on paygo 🙂
