In terms of looks I think the 3gs is better than the 4.

Kinda like the iPods... the 1st Gen iPod was the best looking of them all. The buttons around the clickwheel made it look like a speaker.

Really think the original iPhone had the best design. The flat metal back was much easier to hold than both the 3G and 4.

That's why my wife STILL uses hers. Although she wants a 4 or 5 for Christmas, finally, for features.

Okay, so I'm not the only one, then. Just wondering. I prefer the curved back and feel of the 3GS. And, yeah, I was a lot more afraid to really use my 4 without a care for fragility -- which is handy in a phone when you have little kids and a busy life. Yet others prefer the flat back of heft of the 4, and that's reasonable, too.

I'll get a 5 when they come out. Just didn't want to spend a bunch of money for a 4 for 2 freaking months. But I do hope the 5 returns to the curved back. Oh, and sports a flash that doesn't make indoor photos of my kids make them look like they're headed to liver failure.

It depends on the type of glass. If the glass is heated to high temperatures before gradual cooling, it has the ability to be more durable and stronger than metal.

iPhone 4 design is still the best one out there, 3GS design falls miles short of it.

Well, wake me when Apple starts using THAT kind of glass, because the iPhone 4 glass shatters from simple drops that plastic and metal take with no problems.

Fried my 3GS last month and decided to get a 4. While I love the display and speed of the 4, the 3GS was nicer to hold.

Most of the complains about the 4's feel in the hand can be easily solved with a bumper. That also solves 9/10 issues of it being too delicate.

The iPhone 3GS definitely feels better on the hand, than the iPhone 4. The current iPhone 4's design is completely flawed, like c'mon.. glass?
If i had a choice between an iPhone 3GS with Retina Display, and front facing camera, and an iPhone 4, then i would take the iPhone 3GS.

I agree with your statement about a retina and front camera 3gs. What I'm really hoping for in the new iphone, is a back similar to one of the iPad models, which could combine the squarish feel of the iPhone 4 with a curved back that feels good when being held
