Hey folks,

My iPhone 3GS - about a year and a half old, scraped up from some falls and tumbles - has a broken power button. The physical button popped out a while ago and was lost, and I could still turn it on and off for a while by using a penny or something to depress the mechanism inside the casing through the hole, but for about 3-4 months now it's just been completely useless and if I want it to turn off I have to let it die.

I did that earlier today and then charged it to about 30% before leaving work. I walked to the subway, checked my email en route, and then when I got out of the subway 35 minutes later the phone was completely dead. A quick browse around these forums told me that the only way to fix it would be to press the Home and Power buttons for 10-15 seconds to initiate a manual restart...but I can't do that since the power button is broken!

Any ideas?? My phone is stuck in limbo.

3GSs can be had (at least in the US) for not very much money on craigslist or eBay. Your situation sounds like a pain in the rear... I know I would just cut my losses and buy a replacement.
