Hey guys,

I've been a member of spoiler free threads since MWSF '08 and have loved going spoiler free. Seeing as I have not found anyother "Spoiler-free" threads, I thought it best to create this one.

This is the Spoiler-free thread for the April 8th iPhone OS 4.0 Preview Event.

http://www.bit.ly/KeynoteChecker This is a link to a tool that Voidness created that will check for the keynote streams and allow you to remain spoiler free. Keep in mind that the tool is still in beta. This post will also be updated with the link once it is available.

It's Up!

Hey guys,

This is the Spoiler-free thread for the April 8th iPhone OS 4.0 Preview Event.

This thread will update next Thursday, April 8th with the Quicktime stream to the Event (after one of our fellow users volunteers ;)).

Isn't next Thursday this Thursday, which would be tomorrow? :p

Anyways, as I said in another thread, Apple should just stream their events live!!!!

But they won't, so when will we get a macrumors link Arn?

And thanks Swimmie for the thread :eek:

woops... my bad a mistype on the thursday thing... anyway i completely agree that they should just stream them live but ahwell... if past experiences hold true, were looking at anywhere from 3 hours to 8 hours after the event itself ends. There are people who have said that they will keep an eye out for the stream and once it is posted in this thread, i will edit the first post to include it

A spoiler-free thread! Just what we need :)

I'll try to fix the Keynote Checker script from last time. If I don't manage to fix it, I'll post the links here manually.

Thanks swim4life9 for starting the thread! Also, thanks again Voidness for posting the links.

Let's hope Apple can publish their links up a little earlier than before (incase anyones wondering, links have been posted between 7:30-9:30PM EST the past couple of events).

Thanks for this guys - always appreciate the spoiler-free link! especially on my side of the planet.

I don't remember Apple posting a video of the 2.0 presentation, so I don't think it's guaranteed that we see a video quickly. For iPhone OS updates, reading a liveblog isn't too bad, and I'll be around for it tomorrow. I'll keep this bookmarked in case I change my mind to watch on my iPad ;). Waiting arpund for at least six hours after the event starts isn't fun, though...

10AM PST (1PM EST). Don't expect the video until 6:30pm EST at the absolute earliest.

Always appreciate the spoiler-free thing here, however, considering how long it took for Apple to post video after the last event, I'm going all-out-spoiler this time. :)

Bring on my free “new” iPhone!

I have fears, though, that my lowly 3G will not handle all the changes, and some features may have to wait until my next iPhone. (For instance, RAM is tight, so I don’t see the rumored expanded multitasking being that useful to me—it sounds like a recipe for lots of cache-swapping delay.) But we’ll see!

Nice, the spoiler free community is up and running already!

It's already Thursday here, 11.30am. The start of the event is about 7.5 hours from this post. Let's see how quickly Apple will post the video.

Anyone feeling like calculating the average posting time? ;)

The new OS for the iphone is not due out till June anyways, so whats the big deal ?

It seem's apple has there hands full enough with iPad issues and the release of new Macbook's and Pro's .

Dont get me wrong I love Apple and there products and services, but sometimes all this hype gets to be a little on the ridiculous side.

Thanks for creating this thread again. It's nice to see all of you on board.
Sadly I don't know if I'm gonna make it today, as the event starts on 6 pm here and i have to work until about 7:30.
And I have to work tomorrow morning. So I don't know if I'll have the time to visit this thread often.
The fact that I work at an Apple Store doesn't help either, as I'll likely be hearing spoilers from the moment the event starts…

Yay! Hopefully it's quicker than last year, though. But this is definitely the way to experience Apple keynotes.

It might not be a very big deal for most customers, but it certainly is for everyone involved in developing for iPhone OS.

Apple is a very, very big company with lots of employees. I'm sure they have enough staff available to handle multiple big events at the same time. But keep in mind: Nothing official has been said about new MacBooks and MacBook Pros. For all we know, they could wait until late summer to introduce new models.

Ach, I think, I'll skipt the spoiler free procedure for this event. I'm not expecting anything extraordinary, so maybe I'll just accidentally read on MR what's new and tomorrow, I'll watch the event.

But to the others: Have fun, stay strong!

Tips to Staying Spoiler Free

Hey Guys,

Waiting it out can be really difficult, but the reward is incredible. I always advise young people to 'just wait', because nothing can compare to experiencing it for the first time with a codec you love. (H.264) :D

So, for those of you brave enough enough to attempt staying spoiler free, here are a few tips:

1) Make sure to change your browser's home page to a blank page. Especially if you currently have Apple.com, Top Websites, or a news website.

2) Temporarily disable tech/news blogs from updating in your RSS reader.

3) If you can, filter/block all e-mails from Apple. Very often they send out an e-mail afterwards to advertise their new product(s). If you can't filter, just don't pay attention to the subject line of any e-mails sent by Apple.

4) Don't go on facebook/twitter/AIM/MSN. People will inevitably be talking about it.

5) Don't tell people you are trying to go spoiler free-- especially your tech geek friends. They will think it's funny to ruin it for you.

6) Avoid going out/television/the internet in general if you can. It's incredible how everybody is talking about Apple after every keynote/event.

7) For sanity reasons, plan something constructive to do with your time waiting in isolation. The spoiler-free keynote can take up to 6 hours until it's available.

8) Only trust Voidness to provide the link for the spoiler free keynote.

Finally, don't forget to be respectful and not ruin it for others.

nice to see everyone here. If I remember correctly, the earliest I've seen one come out was 5:30 EST for the 3.0 event. Normally they take until 6:30 EST or later.

I just checked and can confirm that they did post a stream for the 2.0 event. It's the 9th one in the "Apple Keynote" podcast.

agree - i am not sure if i can wait all afternoon without knowing, esp since i actually have the afternoon off today - now if i was working, i could stay busy enough to wait...oh well

bring it on apple!

I'm also a spoiler-free veteran, and with the iPad in hand, and only a 3G (not 3Gs) iPhone combined with upgrade eligibility from AT&T, I am more than prepared to hear what's coming. I will be buying whatever new iPhone is released this year, and will certainly upgrade my iPad from 3.2 to 4.0. All in all, this is a pretty exciting day to happen just 5 days after the iPad is released. I will be watching the keynote on the iPad, spoiler-free. Let the waiting begin.

I am sorry but when they they announce new MacBook Pro's, I have been waiting about 2 months for them to come out (or at least say something about when they are coming out).
