I tried, then it gave me the 14 error, I changed the USB port, then I got the 1013 error again.
Now my prior problem is to activate my phone so I can use it as an iPod.
yes yes I understand....
I have encountered similar problems with no real explanation... I just kept trying various ways or troubleshooting...
Try tinyumbrella or recboot to kick it out of recovery mode.. seldom ever works but worth trying.. in your case.. using mac or windows..
Apple says:
Error 13 and 14: These errors are typically resolved by performing one of more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including a different USB port directly on the computer.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
Try a different USB 30-pin dock connector cable.
Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your Registry. If your default packet size is set incorrectly it can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
Last resort I would uninstall itunes.. restart.. reinstall.. newest version...
But if you are trying to upgrade now to 4.2.1...means you are not doing it officially through... itunes isnt it? You are using itunes but pointing it to a file you downloaded.. I would assume now there 4.3 out.. Apple has stop "signing" 4.2.1, so unless you saved the shsh before you would not be able to do it to 4.2.1 you would have to do 4.3...no choice...
http://modmyi.com/forums/general/754191-apple-still-signing-ios-4-2-1-a.html according to 8 days ago.. they are.. but these things change so...I have no idea at this moment.
