iPhone 4 and/or iPad 3G

Hey guys,

My parents offered to give me $600 towards a laptop when I graduated in June to take to University in September. However, I'm no longer going to school until next year. They said they'd buy me the 16 GB iPad 3G now if I wanted. However, I'm also in dire need of a phone upgrade (Blackberry 8800 FTL).

Do you guys think having an iPad and an iPhone 4 is a waste? Should I ask them to postpone their $600 gift till closer to when I go to school, and put it towards a Macbook? Should I get an iPad, and keep my Blackberry?

Argh, I can't decide. Someone tell me what to do. Please?

Personally I think it would be stupid to buy an iPad at all, but the choice of either a Macbook or an iphone 4 is harder. I'd go for the iPhone if you can get it sooner.

Anytime i phone 4. I am a regular online frugal shopper and mostly use cash back portals like Bing, ShopAtHome, AAfter Search and Ebates.

iPhone 4. Evaluate your needs, it doesn't sound like you need an iPad but you could use an iPhone 4. Or you could put the $600 towards a MacBook and save up for the iPhone yourself?
