    TomTom Response

    Dear Mr Penny,

    Good morning. This is Konstantinos.

The reference number for your query is 100625-003028.

Thank you for contacting the TomTom Customer Care team.

We apologise for any inconvenience but would like to make it clear that the existing TomTom Car Kit for iPhone is only compatible with iPhone; iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.

We are aware that the Apple web store has advertised this product as being compatible with the iPhone 4, however this is not the case and Apple have been informed of this error.

As of yet we do not have any news as to if and when a compatible car kit will be produced for the iPhone 4,

    With Kind Regards

    Konstantinos

    The TomTom Customer Care Team

Hmm...it looks like Apple may have changed the docking pin arrangements again!!

Is there any issue using a docking stations (i.e. Bose)?

The fact the dock doesn't work is disappointing, but what is pleasing is that the GPS in the iPhone 4 is so much better, the TomTom app actually works perfectly without the dock (on my old 3G the app was unusable without the dock).

I've got the iPhone 4 now in a standard bracket on the vents, and the app works fine. OK it doesn't charge or anything and isnt as elegant, but at least it works.

    Off to ebay now ...

wow, THANKS for this link! i was starting to get disappointed. i just kinda ghetto-rigged a piece of foam into that spot mentioned in the video and the car kit now seems to work. i will need to figure out a more permanent solution.

also the top of the phone kind of snaps in to the top clip on the car kit -- i hope it's not too tight. the last thing i want is for it to crack the glass on the new phone. at least it's snug, though.
