Ultimate Ears triple fi

I use the Ultimate Ears triple fi earphones. With the EQ OFF my 3GS has better bass response than the 4. The 4 is crisper with mid and treble.

My iPhone 4 has much better sound than my iPod Touch (1st gen.), my iPod video, and my iPod Shuffle.

The sound quality of my iPhone 4 deteriorates over time. When I do a reset on the phone in iTunes it brings the quality up. Try resetting your iphone periodically in iTunes or when you notice bad sound quality.

Do know that this is an old thread but.

My brothers iPhone 4 outputs awesome sound too my car stereo for example compared to my old 3GS that i had, this sound is output via the dock connector so you cannot raise or lower the volume as it's controlled by the head unit or whatever it's hooked up too.

So what i'm saying is, output from the headphone jack vs dock connector might be huge for SQ.

iPhone's quality control varies too much

I can sympathize with those that are frustrated with the music sound from their iPhone devices, no matter what the model is, you just got to be lucky to get a good unit, one that sounds with a punch, with clean rich sound, bright highs and punchier lows frequencies!

I'm going to Quote another post from this thread because the user described this sound delema perfectly!

The primary reason I switched to an iPhone was because the iPod feature and it's sound quality, but in the pricess I had to replace my iPhone several times and I discovered how much variation in sound quality there can be from phone to phone, iPhone to iPhone, same model :(

My GF still has 3GS, it sounds louder, but very harsh, the high frequencies can hurt your ears. We have updated the software to 5.0 but I couldn't notice any change in sound...

I got my first iPhone 4 with 4.x software with Verizon, I must mention the lighting speed of their 3G network. The sound of this iPhone, although not as Lou d as the 3GS, it was clean, punchier, deep base and clean bright highs, I used to delight myself when I connected the phone to my truck Audio system, but due to Verizon expensive plan for such a limited service, I decided to go with sprint...

At sprint I got a 4S, and it also exhibited the same sound qualities of my regular iPhone 4, deep punchier rich base with clean sharp highs. But the vibrator on this phone ratter, and for that reason I took it back for another 4s. That was a big mistake, since then I tried 2 more 4s, and finally went back to a second iPhone 4 with sprint and neither of the last 3 phones could match the sound quality of the first two phones :(

Now I am stock with a phone that I rather not used its iPod feature.

My conclusión is that the quality on these phones varies too much, if you got lucky and found a good sounding phone, then keep it because the next one my desapoint you!

I feel like the iP4 sounds cleaner, clearer and more defined than I remember my 3GS sounding, but maybe it's in my head. I don't use EQ.

It also seems that the sound quality of the iPhone 4 is better in certain curcumstances, There appears to me to be more of a punchy bass sound on kick drums and it's a little warmer. So to sum it up some of the harshness from the mids I experienced on the 3Gs have gone. Me and my dad notice straight away when we played something on the iPhone 4 it sounded punchier and warmer.

If sound quality is that important to you then you need to bypass the headphone slot completely. Get an LOD and amp

this thread is hilarious all these people acting like they know what they are talking about are just pulling it out of their ***

true the iPhone does have lower volume, but volume =/= sound quality

I've tested several lossless files with several headphones and the iPhone audio quality is comparable to other Apple products

Try using Equ app, it is winderful

Equ app has made the sound quality of my iPhone acceptable to me no matter how I use it, via it's own speaker, headphones or line out, docked or via blue tooth, it really helps, best $3 I ever spend towards my iPhone :)

I cannot explain it but my iPod Touch sounds much better than my 4S. I have tried all the EQ. settings and it is not even close.

I don't understand why people need to be so sarcastic and so mean when they are faced a truth they can not accept or change about a reduct or brand that they love, everything becomes so personal...

Fact of the matter is that although Apple produces very high quality products, these products are not perfectly identical in design, quality and craftsmanship, so one doesnt need to be an audiophile to notice the difference in sound between two device and for one to like one over the other! It is not a personal attack on you and you don't need to justify it either!

The reality is that although we wish that every new model would be bigger and better, manufacturers do tweak the design with every new models, some times for the worse, and some of us wish that they would not mess with what is not broken :(

It is not a secret that because the whole Srii feature the audio design of the 4S had to be tweaked in design and thus yielding results like audio hiss that is not acceptable to me. I also found my last two 4S, to have different bass response then my prior iPhones, when used in the same way, same settings, same song, the new 4S doesn't produce the nice clean deep punch that the old phone used to produced, instead now my whole car rattles...

Also explain to me why equalizers are not to be used?
