    Hi Guys

So last year I went into a Best Buy Store. I told the guy that I wanted the iPhone 3GS and I wanted it as a gift for my friend (So I had to pay full price). When I got home I was able to unlock it from AT&T and use my own carrier.

So my question is - will I be able to do the same with the iPhone 4?

    Hope you can help

    Best Regards

There's no need to lie to them you can buy an iPhone at full price from any authorized dealer.

so what part is the loop hole ?

iPhones are subsidized if you sign up for a contract. Therefore no contract = no subsidy = full price

No loop hole, you just paid the un-subsidized price. Anybody can do it.

Couldn't you do this with a subsidized iPhone, just tell them you want to activate it at home?

Loophole? That's like walking in and shouting, "I will not pay any LESS than full retail!"

No because they make you sign a 2 year contract before you leave the store.
