For your info I have never mentioned landlords so you are confusing me with someone else, so get your facts straight or are you too intent on stirring rubbish.

As for whether I can tell what an Indian is, well forgive my alleged ignorance but these guys were a) Sikhs and b) elderly (at least in there late 60s too mid 70s) and c) not talking in English, so I guess that it highly unlikely they are British Asians by birth and they probably originated from the Indian sub continent.

But I guess a thick whitey like me cannot make such an assessment, without stereotyping them as being criminals, or mistaking Sikhs for muslim fundamentalist terrorists planning martyrdom operations in the Covent Garden Apple Store.

I think somebody is having a little too much fun. Here, describe these statements and tell me what's wrong with them.

There, five stereotypes. I'm not making those statements, just listing stereotypes. I can actually explain why each point is only racist if you look at them that way, but I'll let you go first, then I'll take my turn.

Then they proceed to sell the iphones within the country on craigslist, ebay, kijiji etc. They are NOT selling them in india as there is virtually no market there since they already have iphone4 and its cheap there because they get them from china etc.

i thought i would just clear up their motives and as far as the racist stuff goes I personally am not offended, he was just stating what he say.

What you are not realizing when you are letting out your racist urges is how it permeates a culture of oppressive mindset. The very minds and identities of minority members are warped because when they think of themselves, they think of themselves as an x person instead of a person.

When two white guys have a conversation, they are just two guys having a conversation. When two members of a minority have a conversation, they're identity is defined by their minority status and they are aware of it which warps everything about their confidence, inner ID and ego.

Therefore, racism like pedophilia has a taboo status in America. If you have sex with a 16 year old girl, even though you'd like to, you damage her mind. If you bring up race and classify people by race, even though it's convenient, you damage the minds of minorities and their identities.

Therefore, when ignorant people say racist things, people usually get quiet and change subjects until maybe one day that person feels uncomfortable and learns it's not cool to be racist.

It's hard to stop racist parents from raising racist children though. Maybe two generations from now enough racism will be liquidated.

For the ignorant: everything is racist. To be non racist is to actively work at ignoring race and understanding the depth of what you're doing and why it's necessary to eradicate it.

Everything is racist. Even if it's positive. It's the classification that hurts, not the context.

The only time someone should bring up racism is to teach and warn against it so that future generations learn to not embrace their natural tendencies toward dehumanization.

Rape is wrong, racism is wrong.

He was just describing the people. Whites are the major race in America, so you don't really need to add "a group of white people.", when you say "a couple of people", it would be understood you mean whites and maybe one black, etc. person. Ignoring differences between race is racist. Do you not like describing anything using adjectives such as tall, etc.? People should be proud of their ethnicity, not trying to make it seem like ethnicity isn't a good way to describe a person. He doesn't mean anything when he says Indian in the same way an Asian may not mean anything when he goes "two white people were having a yard sale", other than to be descriptive.

This thread gets better every time I read it, of course the original topic is lost and irrelevant and it has become a talking shop on the fact that I am a racist, because I had the audacity to mention the fact that a group of persons were Indian.

This (despite what some say) was relevant to the topic as I hoped it would prompt some response from the relevant section of this community to give me an idea what was going on.

As for some of these theories on racism, well what can I say, we now have comparisons to rape, murder and pedophilia. In fact so many of these so called intellectual arguments are flawed to the point of being racist themselves. Just in case you havn't quite grasped it I am not American, and London is about the most diverse city in the world. The biggest flaw in your argument is that you perceive that only ethnic majorities i.e. Whites in America can be racist. I suggest you look up the meaning of the word.

In fact I am sure that most minority groups whatever the colour of their skin and wherever they may be situated in the world, would find it abhorrent to lose their sense of identity and live in the utopia that you describe. The reality is skin and physical attributes are just the outer part of our identity. Religious, ethnic, cultural and national identity makes us who we are and if you want to rid the world of racism then you have to rid it of all the other tags we attribute to our make up which gives us our identities.

What should we do with this information? Is it supposed to suggest that Asians have no morals and they drove up rent prices? Because that's what some people suggested earlier. On similar note, I could show pictures of black criminals. In fact, statistics about black prison population in the US are shocking. Does that mean that black people are criminals? No. Do the prisoners in question commit crime because they are black? Of course not. There is a whole socio-economic issue behind this. White people in similar poverty commit crime too. The main thing is the recognition of the causation.

I'm not sure that you addressed this to me or somebody else, but I just wanted to say that nobody mentioned rapists and nobody claimed that only white people can be racists.
