Hello everyone, i just got the possibillity to buy a used iPhone 4 for a very cheap price.
But the problem is, that there is a simlock on it.
I looked the whole thing with simlock in the internet up, and came to the clue that i first could downgrade it to 5.0/5.01 then jailbreak it use the unlock tool, and then bring it back to the standart software. (or keep the jailbreaked;) ).
Could this work the way i said it here that i can use it like a normal one without simlock. A friend told me that there will occure problems with gps and whatever.

problems with GPS occor only on the 3GS with the iPad BaseBand.

What yoiu discribe probably won't work.
Like Miles01110 asked, it will all depend on the current BaseBand.

The 5.1.1 firmware can be downgraded under certain conditions.
    The BaseBand cannot be downgraded.
