If i buy sim free iphone 4 in usa, will it work in UK? Obviously buy straight from apple and get it delivered to my relatives adress in WI?????????

not 100% sure, but i dont think you can buy sim free in the US

You cannot buy an officially locked iphone in the US. They are all locked to AT&T.
Try Canada, Mexico or some other country that sells them unlocked.

iPhone's in the U.S. are locked to AT&T.
