I still may put a Zagg shield on the back of the phone, but now I'm pretty sure I'm not going to do anything to the front of it. Zagg back plus Apple Bumper = pretty good setup. I think.

A lot of people said you couldn't scratch the 3G and 3GS screens either. I beg to differ.

Same here...I thought it was "un-scratchable" until I managed to put a decent little scratch in my 3GS. Got a screen protector the next day.

Thanks!

It'll be interesting to see what the cost of that assembly is with the new display.

"Not cheap."

I hear that the screen itself is the single most expensive component in the phone. Though I guess upon further consideration that's not really surprising.

iResQ is charging $189 for black and $199 for white for replacement of the glass, LCD, and digitizer. The back glass is another $90.

For the 3G it is $125 ($137 for the 3GS) for all 3

or $79 for JUST the LCD or the digitizer and glass.

I've gone around and around about whether to get SquareTrade. For 2 iPhones it's gonna cost me $200... Odds of cracking one (based on previous 4 iPhones)... 25%. I'll take my chances without.

I wonder if the iPhone 4 will have better resale value than previous iPhones.

I somehow managed to scratch my iPad now have an annoying rainbow reflection where the scratch is. I don't think I'm gonna take any chances this time

Question is whether or not iresq has access to the exact apple retina displays to replace with, as opposed to slapping a generic or previous generations LCD in there...

They say they're an Authorized Repair Facility. I don't know if that means anything though. I'd like to know, too.

I've never used a screen protector and have never had a scratch. No reason to change with the iPhone 4, especially with the stronger screen.

Some of us lead more rugged lives than an office desk.

For us there is Otterbox. The Gorilla screen clearly can't handle a good whacking on the corner of an acrylic/plastic aquarium tank. ;)

This sounds like a good idea. Where are you going to buy the Zagg from?

I've had 2 of my 3 iphone 3GS screens scratched. (replaced my screen twice for dust underneath) Only tiny minor scratches, I would rather live with them than with a protector on the front. But a protector might not bother me on the back...

I'm hoping it's different this time around with this new glass. Since the original iPhone I had never scratched my screen until about a month ago I scratched my 3G screen. Of all the luck, a month before I sell it. I think how it happened was I had the phone in my pocket with keys (which I used to NEVER do, and will NEVER do again) and then my GF sat on my lap. Put a nice scratch about 3mm long that could be seen on a white background. Oh well, lesson learned. iPhone 4's screen looks impressive though! Can't wait 'till tomorrow!
