iPhone 4, home button won't work

Out of the blue, my wife's iPhone 4 Home button is unresponsive. Help!! Thx.

what OS is on it? would you be willing to jailbreak if necessary, it would allow you to reassign buttons, I did this when my top button broke

You can go into the accessibility settings and use assistive touch to get a software generated home button to make the phone useable.

You can also do a forum search for recalibrating your home button. that might work. iPhone 4 home buttons are a weak point btw, they fail a lot.

Apple will happily sell you a new phone. Mine failed, as did my wife's. It's normal. Apple doesn't trust touch screen buttons. Funny, they based the phone on touch screen technology 😀
