iPhone 4/iPad wi-fi hardware difference?

Hi,

I'm toying around with my new iPad right now and have noticed that my iPhone is getting not only a stronger signal from my router, but is also detecting signals from my neighbors. My iPad only gets two bars from my router signal and isn't detecting other sources.

Is the iPhone wi-fi just better in general?

I've noticed the same thing with our iPads. It has never posed a problem though. I still get wifi speeds almost as fast as my mac and my pc.
