Just have to restore is all...I consider that easy.

But, if you do a factory restore (as opposed to restoring from back-up), you will lose all you app's data (and probably contacts if you don't have them backed up either), right?

what if i restore from my previous back up?

JB'ing is not detectable unless you tell/show someone that it is.
Yes, you can still do everything on iTunes as usual.
Yes you can still restore, however, your JB will not restore so you must re-JB.
Yes you can still restore from a backup no matter what (but JB is erased)

So what happens if I backup once I jailbreak download some apps, and then restore the phone?

Are all the jailbreak apps gone? Will they come back as soon as I jailbreak again?

Does it totally jack up the layout of my apps?

So what are the exact steps for jailbreaking a 3GS on 4.0?

Do I just go to the site on my iPhone and just follow the instructions?

Also, if I jailbreak, does that mean the phone has been unlocked as well?

If not, how do I unlock it?

JB apps will not come back through the restore, use PkgBackup to keep track of JB apps and it will re-download them relatively easily. JB'ing will not "jack" up your layout...think of it as this: it only ADDS to everything you can do on an iPhone, it does not REPLACE or DEGRADE anything (at least unless there's a bug in the JB, which is very possible especially seeing how this one just barely released)

The new JB unlock has not been released just yet, Musclenerd says they are waiting for a short period to finish tweeking

i heard a rumor that if you download themes on iphone 4 and use them it will mess up the screen because the iphone 4 has a highier resolution. is this true

Thats a rather odd way to phrase the question... who would rumour about something like that... and its not really a rumour, more like common sense. Yes, common sense would dictate that any theme designed for the previous ios devices that you applied to your iPhone 4 would look pretty pixelated and crap, because the icons/wallpapers would be a much lower resolution than the iPhone 4 screen. I don't even know if winterboard has been updated for iOS4.0 anyways.... and most themes will now just be icon packages/ui skins anyways, since ios4 supports home screen wallpapers.

Just recently jb my iphone 4. I had restart my phone after jb, after it loading up the apple loading screen there this wierd light streak lines across the top like a row of dead pixel with various color across. wonder if anyone have similar issue when restart iphone

Yeah mines same, going to test facetime n MMS now apparently a fix is up now when you do it

anyone having problems with cydia?

Mine keeps timing out all time and i have to keep reloading all time, eventually clicks through. Maybe with the Jailbreak being so easy it is due to server overload as everone wants to access it. I have always found Cydia to be painfully slow anyhow
