Hello guys,

This is my 1st time posting here (obviously, lol) and I've run into an interesting situation:

I have a brand new iPhone 4 with 5.0.1 out of the box. I tried to jailbreak it but it just reboots like normal. No Cydia, no anything.

I've tried 6 times on the three different betas of Redsn0w that are out....

it's a CDMA (Verizon) iPhone 4 to be exact. Not a 4s. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Has anyone had this issue?

Did you make sure to put it into DFU mode?

Indeed...it goes into DFU mode, and it appears to work like normal (I have an iPad which was jailbroken previously) but it never gives me an option to install cydia...just says waiting for reboot and stays there (redsn0w does, phones boots up normally)....maybe it's my iTunes? (10.5.2

Or should I just tether jb it then apply corona?

Yeah I used all three....I'll post the results from using XP mode.

Ok so now my 7 machine isn't working

any other ideas? should i just do a tethered jailbreak then apply the Corona patch?

You can do that too. I saw someone post in the hack section that he has successful of doing that.

ok let's see how it goes...

----------

Yup that failed too.

Gave the unrecognized build message......

sooooo....do I just give up?

Now, I have to ask even you already clearly stated in your post that it is not a 4S. Are you sure it is not a 4S? because only 4S can't be jailbroken.... That is only my explanation.

Can you go to setting and read the full firmware version of your phone?

Yup can definitely confirm as I went INTO the Verizon store to buy it lol:

Model firmware: 3.0.03
Model: MD439LL

Ok that didn't work either.

I'm practically over it. Hopefully something comes through for 5.0.2/5.1 or if there's another workaround, it will work on my phone.

Can you run redsn0w, but use the function that allows you to pick firmware first before proceeding. Obviously, with this option, you will have to locate/download 5.0.1 fw to your computer.

So just download a stock IPSW and place it to desktop right? should I do another restore?

don't need to do restore. You can also locate your phone firmware at the following location as well, hence you don't need to download again since it takes forever;

On Windows XP :
Documents and Settings\<User>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

On Windows Vista/Windows 7:
Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

On Mac:
~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
