My wife's iPhone 4 (AT&T, iOS 5.1.1) is not receiving emails properly. Whenever I get a photo attachment in an email, instead of displaying it, it shows a grey box with a down arrow with a dotted line around it saying photo.JPG and the file size. If I click on the icon, the down arrow turns into a spinning icon for a second, then returns to the original icon.

I think your file format is not compatible with your phone witch file you send try to change the file and then send again if this error is repeat then i think your phone's internet is not working properly.

I encountered the same problem with AT&T and an upgrade to IOS 5.1.1. Was unable to view photos (any format) sent from my
Apple desktop via email to my IPhone. The problem was resolved once I ensured that the checkbox for "Send Windows Friendly Attachements"
was checked when selecting the photo file to be sent.
