I have been waiting for this topic to show up here, but decided I could not wait.

I see that the new IPHONE uses a micro-SIM. Does this mean that I can use this in an IPAD and thus share the data program from my IPHONE (I would upgrade my 3GS for which I have unlimited data).

Thanks

Happy World = Yes, yes you can.

World in which we presently live and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future = No, no you can't.

I'm sure the greedy powers that be at Apple and AT&T already figured out a way to keep this from happening.

Well I don't see why not, all you would have to do is change the APN on the iPad. People already have trimmed their current iPhone sim down to microsim size and that works.
I'm more curious of the other way - using the iPad sim in the iPhone 4. People have already done this as well with jailbroken iPhones where you can change the APN settings. Google Voice SMS + Skype/SIP + unlimited data = win.
