I tried posting on apple forums but apparently nobody answers there so I'll try my luck here.

IPhone 4, 32gb. Very suddenly all the sound stopped. The speaker won't work. The headphones don't work. The microphone wont work and audio in won't work either. The dock connector also won't play music when connected to a stereo. However, it does charge fine. I've restored twice to no avail. Bluetooth works and streaming music over AirPlay works too. But otherwise, I've got a pretty useless texting machine. Any ideas? Tweaks? Does anybody here know the hardware well enough to know if the dock, headphones and iPhone speaker are all connected? Is there an easy fix? Please help!!!!

I'm on 5.0.1 and thought of downgrading to try a different OS but alas I can't do that either.

I think there's an issue with your harware.
Try to get a refund at an apple store...
right. so i know i can go that route... but, i rely on the gevey unlock and i know that if i get a refurbished iphone it will come with the new basbeband and I will not be able to unlock...

Hi I have this exact same problem with my 4s no sound at all did you manage to find out what it was.

Try this

Did you use a different pair of headsets? There are three and four poles headsets. Try plugging and disconnecting your different headphones several times.
I hope it helps!:apple:
