Yes, you could use it on T-Mobile but you have to know the baseband the iP4 is on. If it's the most recent (the phone would be on the most recent software) you'd have to wait for an unlock. I am currently waiting with my iPhone 4 myself.

1. No need for the mad face

2. All released iPhones that are unlocked and made to work on T-Mobile are stuck on EDGE. 3G doesn't work on T-Mobile iPhones due to difference in supported airwaves. (T-Mobile's 1700MHz)

3. Ultrasn0w can't unlock current iPhones with baseband of iPhone OS 4.1.0+

how is the edge network on the iphone for tmobile? 3g is pretty nice on the nexus s

and is baseband the firmware version? so the iphone has to be 4.0, because 4.1 isn't broken yet?

the baseband on the iphone is 02.10.04?

Edge is pretty slow. For browsing or messaging (AIM, Yahoo, etc), its not too bad BUT don't even think about loading YouTube videos!

Anything 02.10.04 and up is broken at the moment. EDGE has a maximum of ~256 Kb/s top speed theoretical. That means you would see around ~200 Kb/s maximum in real life. 3G on T-Mobile is 4x faster than that at minimum. You will notice the speed difference.

thanks for the quick replies friends! :):)

is there a way to downgrade from 4.1 to 4.0? i remember it was possible to do with ipod touches when i used to jailbreak mine

could you simplify that/is this a complicated process?

****,that doesn't matter does it,since it won't be able to get unlocked either way..:(

edit:i read that the unlock won't get released until 4.3 comes out...no confirmation yet as to when that will happen?

Yes, like Jav said above.
If its on 4.0, 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 you can unlock.
If it has been updated to official 4.1 and above it cannot be unlock at the moment.
Maybe down the road we will see a new unlock but noone knows exactly when.
