EDIT: I should mention that the iPhon is in a 'Disabled' mode. On the screen it reads "Connect to iTunes".

    Hello, all.

I am having an issue with an iPhone 4 that I was given about 6 months ago. The phone has a shatter in the top right corner with a few cracks that scale to the middle left on the front panel of the device.

When connected to a charger (this is the case with and without a wall adapter), the phone does not seem to respond or recognize it in any way, other than it actually accumulating a small amount of charge over a long, long period of time. I have tested this over multiple chargers and adapters. All of them work on my other devices that still use the 30 pin cables.

When connected to a computer enabled with iTunes (PC or Mac), the computer nor iTunes recognize the iPhone, but will recognize my other devices.

    Thanks,
    -Hunter

    Hello, rigormorits.

I considered that, but I'm more of a guy who wants to fix his own stuff. I was hoping by posting here that someone could possibly pinpoint the issue, and then I could try the repair, and see what happens.

    Thanks,
    -Hunter

when it comes time to sell your 4s your 4s would probably be worth the $149 that you spent at the apple store. and it will be a fresher unit. those people on eBay who buy phones, they go over them with a fine tooth comb and nitpick you and want to see all your scratches and dents.

you can buy an iPhone on eBay for $149 , but then you don't know what your getting and it might have scratches and dents you won't like

if you want to fix it yourself, your best bet is ifixit.

maybe buy the replacement dock connector at $19.95 and if that not it, just keep throwing parts at it until its fixed

the only thing else i have to contribute is, remember. its an iPhone. in order to charge it requires 5 v @ 1000 MA, if you are using standard usb chargers they are only putting out 500 ma and can't charge an iPhone when the screen is on
