Is there a way to remove the data plan from my features? I am going on vacation for 1 month and will not be using any data

You could put a freeze on your account I believe so your phone won't be used at all.

Short of that I doubt it, since its a requirement for owning an iPhone.

When in doubt call AT&T and see if they'll do that.

Not possible unless you are past your contract. Your contract stated you would keep a data plan for 2 years.

You'll need some other phone. Put the sim in the new phone, call customer care, and say that you would like to switch to that phone on your line. Then have them remove the iphone plan and put media opt-out so you don't get charged anything accidentally. Give them the IMEI of the new phone. When you're done just put the sim back into the iphone.
When you're back from vacation call again and say you want to switch to iphone. It will take you 10-15 min. for each call.
Works 100%. They check accounts randomly from time to time and if they notice you have an iphone without a data plan they will add it, but in this case, it's only a month, they won't figure it out that fast.

Even if your out of contract all iPhones require a data plan. If you don't have ne they started adding them to your plan automatically on AT&T.

QFT, but I know people who have iPhones w/ no data...I guess they just haven't gotten caught yet.

Slightly OT, but I assume there is no way to permanently remove the voice plan? If I paid a buck a minute I'd probably still save money...

Yes me too.
I know one guy that has a family plan with 6 iPhones and no data for years.
And another person that did it for a few months and then AT&T send him a text and automatically added the iPhone data to his account. It's hit or miss I guess.

Beware if you have Unlimited data (grandfathered plan) and you switch to a dumb phone, you will lose it and have to get one of the two new plans.

But of course there's a workaround for that in another thread, and it's still proving itself as effective "re-grandfathering."

I've wondered this myself. Now that ATT has upped the ETF, buying the white iPhone subsidized and eating the $10 a month is certainly cheaper than paying the 325 or 350.

If I could buy the white phone to resell and somehow axe the data plan it would be more profit. Nevertheless I'll have to see what white 32gb's are going for a month or so after they are released. If they are still pulling 900-1000 it will be plenty worth it to pay the ETF on the line added.

You can only have 5 phones on a family plan, so I am not sure what to believe here...

I wish you could use the iPhone and turn off the data. I have a 2g and a 3g and would like to give it to my kid for phone calls and texting, but no internet. I'd hate to have to go buy yet another phone just for that.

It might be five not sure how his account is setup.
Its him, his wife, 2 kids and I think the 2 boyfriends but not 100%.
I know they all use iphones without data ranging from 2G, 3G and 2 3GS models.
I know cause I JB for them.
Believe what you want, Im just stating my personal experience.
