Iphone 4 Self Service Screen Repair

I shattered my iphone 4's screen and have been looking around for the cheapest way to go about replacing it. I've found the lcd and digitizer sold separately on ebay for a combo of just under $90.00. Will the screen resolution be any different from before using these cheaper parts? Basically just want to know if it's going to look the same as when it was new or if it will be like I replaced the awesome retina display with some crappy low quality display.

I'm not sure you'll like the result. I think that the glass and LCD are fused at the factory so if you replace them with separate units there is a real chance of dust contamination.

Also, isn't the repair (replacement) cost from Apple like $199? I think that I'd pay the extra 100 bucks to get a brand-new phone.

well, ive replaced my 3gs digitizer, i have to take it apart once a week to clean off the dust, i wouldnt recommend replacing it urself. But im not sure about the i4 tho.
