Some might call it stupid, some might call it nitpicky, and some might agree.
After updating to iOS5, the first thing I noticed is how choppy the animations have become.
This phone has a 800 megahertz processor, and 512 megabytes of RAM, and it's already fragmenting???
It's most noticeable on a page full of apps with lots of folders. Opening an app may be smooth, but once you exit, the framerate is very undesirable.
This is something I have come accustomed to on my iPod Touch 2G on 4.2.1, where you can only have a certain amount of apps per page to have everything run smoothly. I was not expecting this on my iPhone for at least another two MAJOR releases.
iPad 2 and iPhone 4S do not experience this choppiness. iPhone 4 SHOULDN'T either, but it is.
I have had to resort to disabling the wallpaper just to get everything smooth again. Something I didn't really want to do, but I'm hoping maybe 5.0.1 has addressed it.

PS. This status is mainly targeted to people who have noticed with each OS update, the graphical interface gets slightly worse. If you think this topic is dumb, just don't post on it. I just want to see what others are experiencing.

Mine rarely gets "choppy" and when it does I close out the apps under the dock. You are probably using up most of your RAM. That's one thing I liked about jailbreaking was I could see how much RAM I wasn't using in the status bar.

I only see the choppiness once or twice every few days or so and that's when I'm really putting the phone to work. Under normal usage the animations work beautifully. When I update my iPhone 4 I restore it to a new device and has worked great since then.

iOS 5.0 actually runs more smoothly on my iPhone 4 than iOS 4.0 did.

Yea, same here. Although I'm still okay with it. One of the biggest thing I noticed is that sometime it takes forever to open up my camera. 5 or maybe 10 seconds. In certain area the phone does seems to perform a bit slower then iOS4. Although I have not experienced this, my gf and my sister have complained that the phone has crash on them a couple times (they had to do hard restart) which was never the case back in iOS4. I hope the next update will fix these issues.

Lately I have noticed slowdowns too especially in games such as Angry Birds.
For example instead of the bird flying smoothly it lags(reminds me of the low fps on games).
When this happens,I close all the running apps but it still lags.
The only thing that helps is rebooting the phone.

I've noticed the camera def takes pics faster, however it takes way longer to open up when starting the app, and there's a serious lag when going from camera to vid or vice versa that wasn't there before.
